Lessons Learned

I have been trading based on Phil Newton's method. The purpose of this post will be to document my lessons learned while testing his method. While I maintain a blog on his site for back and forth discussion.

Here are my lessons so far:

- Do not trade choppy pairs, stick to my core 4 for right now

- Use latest ideal bar, and once trade has been triggered dont reuse.

- When scalping the reversal, use the first swing signaling the bias change as the entry point.

- If price is obviously in a range, then wait for a clear break and not just a small break of the recent PA.

- Having people at the house during the week really made it hard for me to trade first thing in the morning.

-Some weeks are going to be bad, as I continue to backtest I should have more confidence in my judgement and decision making.

22 January 2010

Hey everyone, just figured I would give a bit of an update. A lot has happened over the past year both personally, professionally and in relation to trading.

Overall, my trading was not what I was hoping that it was be. At the end of 2009, I went on a hunt for a private forum and instructor that both fit my trading style and that was trust worthy. Luckily I have found what I am looking for and have been trading it for the past week. Hopefully over the next months I will be able to post some trades, and better than that post some profits. Only time will tell, but I finally feel like I am on the right track again.
